THE NATURAL ANTIDOTE TO ANXIETY AND TENSION
Meditation is often the least tended to of the yogic practices -- but by far the most effective and important. It's a practice that eludes many students and even teachers. This 3 part training will deepen your own meditation and relaxation practice and teach you to guide others with confidence and the authenticity that comes from your personal experience with a steady meditation practice. You will learn to share the benefits of meditation, from better health to higher consciousness -- with groups and individuals. As a meditation teacher, you will be able to teach your students how to reduce stress, concentrate better, stay centered in the midst of life's challenges, become more focused —and above all, cultivate a deep sense of peace and surrender.
It's paramount that we learn to release the inner chatter and develop the discipline required to still the mind. During this course, you will develop a solid meditation practice -- or re-enliven your faltering practice -- in a supportive and gentle environment. Meditation has always been the heart and soul of Yoga but is too often neglected or completely forgotten in Western yoga classes. Fitness is wonderful but if the mind is anxious then reactivity and a general lack of ease inside is our constant companion. Allow peace back into your body and mind for lasting health and well-being.
You will learn to incorporate meditation harmoniously into all types of classes, group meetings as well as during private sessions with clients or loved ones. You will speak from a place of deep inner experience when you guide others through the inner obstacles that are bound to arise when we bring full presence to our inner state and unresolved issues. When we become practiced at sitting in stillness in Deep Presence, all that we have not addressed yet will arise so that we may bring conscious, loving awareness to all of what lives within. This is the journey of enlightenment. Step by step we bring more light and awareness to more of who we are and we become more effective in carrying out our mission and vision in life.
This 3 part Mindfulness Meditation and Relaxation Teacher Training is for you if have always wanted to explore how meditation can profoundly change your life but lacked guidance and discipline and it's for you if are already intimately familiar with the benefits of meditation and feel ready to deepen your practice while getting ready to guide others into a deep and consistent practice of meditation.
You must complete all three levels of this training to earn the Mindfulness Meditation and Relaxation Teacher Certificate. But you may also choose to take just one or two levels as a means to strengthen and deepen your own personal meditation practice even if you do not intend to go on to teach the practice to others.
By cultivating your own calm, clear presence, you create an environment of true healing. When your students are grounded and centered, they naturally gain the necessary insight and clarity for spiritual growth.
During this training, you will receive training in several types of meditation practices, including these techniques:
Body Scan and anapana Meditation (Vipassana method)
Pranayama meditation (Breathing techniques)
Silent Mantra Meditation
Loving Kindness Meditation
Yoga Nidra Meditation
Mindful Walking Meditation
We will also cover the importance of correct meditation posture and explore a range of methods for preparing the body to sit upright and alert for long periods of time. You will learn somatics (therapeutic yoga movements) and learn to identify what yoga asana (posture) tools will address a given area of tension, tigthness or discomfort while seated. While an erect spine is ideal for meditation; it is not necessary to sit on the floor. There will be chairs available for anyone who needs it.
Mindfulness Meditation and Relaxation Teacher Training Level 1
During the first 8 weeks of this training, you will take a profound journey into the life changing world of mindfulness meditation which is an evidence-based practice that has become an accepted part of mainstream medicine. It has been proven to lower anxiety and enhance the immune system. You will learn how to establish a solid personal meditation practice and you will soon discover how it positively affects the quality of your everyday life, your lifestyle choices and your sense of intelligent inner guidance. In addition to the classic mindfulness practices, you will learn therapeutic yoga practices that prepare your body to sit in meditation as well as somatic practices that release deep seated tension and anxiety from body and mind. You will learn how to guide others effectively and compassionately into a deep state of meditation.

Mindfulness Meditation and Relaxation Teacher Training Level 2
During this second 8-week course, you will deepen your personal journey into the life changing world of mindfulness meditation and relaxation. You will have developed the resiliency to face the inevitable inner and outer obstacles that present themselves as you bring ever more consciouness into your body and into your daily life and relationships. This is when many students run away. When meditation is not easy but challenges us to face what naturally arises when the mind becomes still. At this point in your journey, you have a tremendous opportunity for growth and to clear yourself of outdated patterns and beliefs that hold you back from reaching your full potential as a radiant loving Being in the world.
At this point in your practice you will likely experience in greater depth, the pitfalls and trials that are inevitable on your meditation path. This deeply personal experience will enable you to effectively guide your own students, friends or family through the rough patches and move through to the other side. You will have the guidance of an experienced meditation practitioner as well as the support of a group that is stepping out of the mainstream culture of hurried doing to cultivate authentic inner growth in spite of the ego's persistent resistance.

Mindfulness Meditation and Relaxation Teacher Training Level 3
Level 3 is your time to practice stepping fully into your power as a Mindfulness Meditation and Relaxation Teacher. By this time you will have completed at least 16 weeks of consistent meditation: you have deepened your journey and you have developed personal insight into the inevitable struggles that you face when you are present to all the arises from deep within. Having learned to work with and through your own inner obstacles enables you to understand the struggle of others. This inner transformation and growth will enable you to effectively guide individuals and groups into deep meditation while staying attuned to the inner and outer obstacles that your students will face -- because you yourself continue to face them and move through them. Everyone of us is a spiritual work in progress and while you will likely never 'get there' you will continue to evolve in your capacity to meet the unconscious and reactive places within and gradually integrate them by bringing love and presence to the shadows.
In addition to working with this deeper level of personal growth through the persistent practice of meditation, Level 3 will also have a strong focus on the practical aspect of teaching both groups and individuals. How you might develop classes, workshops, retreats and/or recordings that will ensure that you reach as many students as possible at a pace that is comfortable for you.
There are no pre-requisites for this course. The course is limited to 16 students. You will be practicing in an intimate setting with a supportive group of people who share the goal of incorporating more mindfulness into their lives and gradually achieving a sense of inner peace and calm as well as greater ease in the body.
Please wear comfortable clothing and bring layers.
